The American Institute of Food Distribution, Inc (AIFD) is nonprofit organization established in 1928 by Gordon C. Corbalay.  Mr. Corbaley established the AIFD in order to provide research and information and to better educate buyers and sellers in the marketplace. The Food Institute Report, which is put out weekly, gives insight to price and inventory information on canned vegetables, canned fruits, dried vegetables, dried fruits, frozen vegetables, frozen fruits, and juice concentrates; futures prices on food products and commodity prices from the Wall Street Journal; and mergers and acquisitions in the food industry.  For example, the AIFD website the states, “Starbucks is testing toasty croissants and baked goods in nine San Francisco stores, with plans to eventually expand distribution nationally, according to The Associated Press. Among the items, produced from the company's purchase of bakery chain La Boulange, are a whole wheat spinach croissant, a ham and cheese croissant and a tomato, cheese and herb croissant. Many of the items are served warmed, unlike its current lineup of baked goods.”
